What is the difference between hard rail and linear guideway on a flat bed CNC lathe?

For your heavy cutting applications, hard rail gives you higher rigidity and vibration damping because it uses induction-hardened cast iron sliding surfaces. Linear guideway provides faster movement and less friction, but is less tolerant to heavy impacts. For general machining with occasional heavy cuts, hard rail is more durable.

Can your flat bed CNC lathe handle stainless steel or hardened materials?

Yes. The rigid, hard rail construction and high precision spindle bearings provide enough stability for stainless steel and pre-hardened materials. For harder materials, we recommend reducing cutting depth and speed. The optional cast iron base adds extra rigidity for difficult materials.
